Sulgrave Club 100 Years is the official centenary photobook celebrating 100 years of the Sulgrave Club in London W12. Produced by Cinzia D’Ambrosi and published by the Photojournalism Hub to mark a significant milestone in the Club’s history and community life, the 96-page publication brings together archival and contemporary photography to trace the people, places and stories that have shaped the Club since its founding.
Sulgrave Club 100 Years documents a century of community life through photographs, personal memories, archival material and contributions spanning generations. The publication accompanies Lens on a Century, the centenary exhibition held at the Sulgrave Club on 26 June 2026, and extends the exhibition’s exploration of the Club’s history through a wider collection of images and personal stories. Among its archival material are remarkable connections to members and figures associated with the world-famous British rock band The Who. The book features a letter from Pete Townshend, alongside photographs of Roger Daltrey, generously provided by Irish Jack, who is regarded as the fifth member of the band.
The photobook also includes the personal photo album of John Rowley, whose photographs offer a rare and intimate glimpse into the Sulgrave Club and youth provision in the late 1950s and early 1960s. His images provide an important visual record of a period when the Club played a significant role in the lives of local young people.
Together, these photographs, documents and personal contributions create more than a record of an anniversary. Sulgrave Club 100 Years is a visual history of a community, preserving memories and connections that might otherwise be lost, while celebrating the continuing role of the Sulgrave Club in the lives of generations of people in West London.
